How long has The Book Show been a weekly feature on WAMC (Northeast Public Radio)? The current show is number 1,218. That means they are in their 24th season of interviewing top flight authors.
The first host was Tom Smith, the original executive director of The NYS Writer’s Institute at the University of Albany, which itself is 25 years old. Today Joe Donahue is the host. I don’t know how Joe finds the time because he is also a co-host of WAMC’s morning show The Roundtable.
By the way I’ll be Joe’s guest on The Roundtable Tuesday December 6. Tune in at 10:30 AM to catch our conversation about how I came to write The Expendable Man, self-publishing and whatever else Joe wants to talk about.
But if you are an author and/or a reader, The Book Show ought to be on your must listen to schedule. Just check out some of the guests on recent shows:
There are few if any important writers of our generation who have not been on the show, which to its credit is as much a conversation as it is an interview.
